ECube, a platform that will offer ESG (environment, social and governance) funds, has appointed Chandru Badrinarayanan as its Managing Partner. Chandru was Executive Director and Head of MSCI’s India business and known for his campaign on ESG in India. MSCI specialises in research-driven insights and tools for institutional investors.

The ECube platform was launched by a group of senior ex-Tata leaders including Dr Mukund Rajan, Govind Sankaranarayanan and Alan Rosling who announced a fund raise of $1 billion earlier this year jointly with Quantum Advisors. As Managing Partner of ECube, Chandru will be involved in institutional investor engagement, ESG research, investee company interactions, investment monitoring, IP management and new business development.

The ESG framework is an approach to investment where environmental, social and governance factors, in combination with financial considerations, guide the selection of portfolio and management of investments.

In a press release, Chandru Badrinarayanan said, “Institutional investors across the world are increasingly making ESG the central theme for all their investments, driven by growing concerns around issues such as poor corporate governance, global warming, and rising inequality. ESG strategies in public equities already impact over $30 trillion of funds.”

Chandru is an alumnus of INSEAD Business School, a Chartered Financial Analyst from ICFAI, Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers and science graduate from Osmania University, Hyderabad.
